Join in with the best dressed pirate competition, sea shanty singing, cutlass training, treasure hunt, join a captain’s crew and man the guns for a great pirate battle! Normal admission applies, plus £3 per child – there’s no need to pre-book, just turn up and pay on the day. Aaargh!!!

Colonel Robert Overton’s Regiment of Foote – Living History Weekend
Colonel Robert Overton’s Regiment of Foote are a 17th Century re-enactment group representing an Infantry Regiment within the Parliamentarian New Model Army at the time of the English Civil Wars. They will be garrisoned at the 1620s House where you can witness exciting military demonstrations (including musket fire!) and you can meet members of the company including the Commanding Officer, laundress, blacksmith and cooks to discover what life was like during the Civil Wars. Snibston Colliery is a very important historic site – a ‘Super Pit’ once turning over 1,000,000 tons of coal a year – with unique site buildings that cannot be seen at any other British coal mine. The tour will take you through a mine machinery display, inside the colliery to the 1970’s Control Room, and the Lamp Room where the miner collected his electric cap lamp and his respirator and, if he was a Deputy, his flame safety lamp.
