Discover how Christmas was celebrated in times gone by! The 1620s House & Garden will be beautifully dressed in Jacobean style décor. Join in with festive carols, talk to volunteers about food and feasting, Christmas customs, keeping warm in winter in the days before central heating and all the jobs that had to be done to ensure the Holy season ran smoothly. What’s more, there’ll be colouring in the Barn and a children’s trail to enjoy! Normal Admission plus £3 No need to pre-book, just come along on the day.

Snibston Colliery is a very important historic site – a ‘Super Pit’ once turning over 1,000,000 tons of coal a year – with unique site buildings that cannot be seen at any other British coal mine. The tour will take you through a mine machinery display, inside the colliery to the 1970’s Control Room, and the Lamp Room where the miner collected his electric cap lamp and his respirator and, if he was a Deputy, his flame safety lamp. You will then visit the miners’ favourite and least favourite rooms. The Pay Hall where he received his pay packet, and the dreaded Medical Centre, where the colliery Nurse reigned supreme. Join us for an atmospheric evening tour of the traditionally decorated rooms of our Jacobean Manor and take part in some festive carols accompanied by a Lute. There will be two tours: 5pm-6.30pm 7pm-8.30pm The Barn will be open for you to purchase seasonal refreshments. Tickets are £10 per person

Join us this December for an evening of community cheer and sparkling lights. We will be singing well-loved Christmas Carols on our Lawn to herald in the festive season! You can also enjoy a light trail around our gardens. Can you find our mischievous elves hidden around the site? The Barn will be open for snacks and refreshments.
