Doug has been gardening since he was a child. He trained as a horticulturist, working in the industry before spending 20 years in horticultural education. He is now an author, a senior examiner and professional associate with the RHS and a horticulture business consultant. He co-presents a garden phone in show on BBC radio Humberside and is a popular speaker. Doug is a self confessed plant nerd. Water colour artist Katy Widdowson brings her first solo exhibition 'In the care of the wild' to Coalville Can, exploring the emotional truth of being a carer and the healing presence of nature in life and art! Explore the exhibition at CAN HQ from the 16th of September to the 4th of October. You're also welcome to come along to an informal social on the evening of the opening. Charity Link’s Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge is a beautiful hike (or run!) through the Charnwood countryside, taking place each September to raise funds. Starting and ending at Beacon Hill Country Park, with Challengers taking on the summits of Beacon Hill, Bardon Hill, and Old John in Bradgate Park. Since the Challenge launched in 2016, our amazing Challengers have raised over £116,000!
