Hello Heritage 2026

Hello Heritage 2026 is a free, month‑long celebration of North West Leicestershire’s rich history and culture, running 1–30 September. The festival brings villages and towns to life with heritage boards, guided walks, open days, exhibitions and hands‑on activities. It’s a chance to find out more about the villages, towns and buildings within these areas while enjoying museums, trails and community events. Many events feature family activities, refreshments, historic displays and opportunities to explore hidden gems such as Hough Mill, the 1620s House, St Helen’s Church and the Sir John Moore Foundation Museum.

Perfect for families, history lovers and curious explorers, Hello Heritage offers dozens of ways to discover the stories, people and places that shaped the area.

What is Hello Heritage?

It’s a fun free month long festival for all the family to enjoy. This year the festival runs from 1 September to 30 September.

Hello Heritage is a celebration of the heritage and rich culture within and across North West Leicestershire. Heritage sites and groups have come together to provide a varied collection of opportunities for you to visit, see, and experience. A number of sites will be open and there will be tours and guided walks available as well as the popular board trails around many villages. You can still access our taster films to find out stories of some of our wonderful sites.

We have come a long way from our original pilot in 2017, in 2023 Hello Heritage received recognition at the Leicestershire and Rutland Heritage Forum annual awards, winning the ‘Surviving and Thriving’ category. Hello Heritage continues to go from strength to strength.

We hope that you enjoy visiting your local area and experiencing the wonderful heritage we have all around us. Enjoy your days out and let us know what you discovered.

We are very grateful to of all the local organisations and volunteers who make this fabulous event possible. They are true custodians of our heritage.
